Ralph Pirozzo Resources August 2009 (from Hawker Brownlow Education)

Improving Thinking in the Classroom, Second Edition

Improving thinking in the classroom does not have to be difficult. This book, Improving Thinking in the Classroom, provides teachers with useful and practical strategies that will enable them to provide all their children with the most engaging, exciting and challenging learning environment. Topics include: • building depth and rigour using Bloom’s taxonomy • engaging students with Multiple Intelligences • transferring the knowledge to the real world Supplementary posters, available from Hawker Brownlow Education, further support the classroom use of the strategies covered in this valuable teaching resource

Improving Thinking: Multiple Intelligences Tests (Set of 5)

The underlying philosophy of this test is that teachers and students are ‘partners’ in learning so both their Multiple Intelligences must be taken into consideration. It follows that teachers should be prepared to complete this test first in order to discover their own Cluster of Multiple Intelligences (CMI) and their own RAMP (Ralph’s Area of Maximum Potential). Then, they should proceed to administer this test with their students to find out the children’s CMI. Finally, by analysing the results as a class, both teacher and students can identify learning opportunities that will work uniquely for them. Imagine the impact that this alignment is going to have on the way teachers provide for their students’ preferred learning styles. Wow!

50 Cooperative Learning Activities

This book has been designed specifically to engage and motivate primary and secondary school students to think ‘outside the box’, to create new ideas and to have fun while learning. These activities can be incorporated into the 48-grid matrix which integrates Bloom’s Taxonomy and Multiple Intelligences. In this way, we will provide for the thinking skills and learning styles of our students. These 50 Cooperative Learning Activities will be useful to you as you continue to provide the most engaging, exciting and challenging learning environment for all your students.
